EZ Roll Grass & Gravel Pavers

July 24, 2011 in Uncategorized | Comments (0)

Flexible plastic paver mats are pre-assembled into rolls for easy

installation on the job site.

EZ Roll Grass Pavers are a sustainable alternative to traditional paving methods. By protecting the root zone and preventing soil compaction, the pavers allow healthy grass to thrive in areas that would traditionally have impervious hardscaping installed.

EZ Roll Gravel Pavers reduce erosion and help maintain the look and functionality of a gravel road. Made with 100% recycled materials, the pavers also minimize surface water runoff and present an attractive and sustainable alternative to trasitional concrete or asphalt.

Recommended Applications: Golf cart paths, service roads, jogging tracks, bike paths, residential driveways, parking lots, overflow parking lots, roadways shoulders, emergency vehicle access roads, truck maintenance and equipment yards, construction entrance soil stabilization. In addition to these load applications, EZ Roll Grass Pavers are also an effective solution for erosion control to slopes and in swales.

Environmental Benefits

  • Permeable surface eliminate or reduce stormwater runoff
  • Stormwater filters naturally through subsurface, reducing pollutants
  • Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect is mitigated as grass does not absorb as much heat energy as traditionsl hardscapes
  • Paver are made of 100% recycled plastic

Get Real…

June 17, 2011 in Uncategorized | Comments (0)

When a golf irrigation central control computer package is purchased most buyers think they are purchasing 258intelligent central control. However, most products on the market today are not central computer controllers but remote program devices. The computer is used to help construct a set of watering instructions that can be dowloaded into a remote device(s) such as field controllers or an interface to be carried out later.

Not the case with Rain Bird Central Control Systems. The computer is always running the entire system, thus true central control. And here is the kicker…since the computer is running the entire irrigation system, if something changes for example weather inputs, sensor alarms, pump station alarms, power outage alarms, Rain Bird’s Central Control Software is in charge and instantly decides on corrective action in real time. This lends itself to some very cool functions. Think Dynamic Flow Manager, SmartPump, RainWatch, Smart Sensors, Cycle & Soak, Flexible field hardware options and think “real time” decision making with intelligent response.

Get real and get ready to be excited about your irrigation control package!

Golf Superintendent Profile

May 10, 2011 in Uncategorized | Comments (0)

Everything is good”, says CGCS Superintendent John Ottaviano of the Manchester Country Club in Manchester, Vermont. A winning attitude and even keel personality are just two reasons why John has enjoyed such a long and successful career at Manchester Country Club.

Only the second superintendent in the history of the club, John has spent much of his 24 years improving playing conditions and being a part of the club’s growth and new golf course construction projects. John knows he is only as good as his crew and is quick to point out their assets in contributing to his success.

At Manchester Country Club, John’s irrigation philosophy has two schools of thought. The newest nine, constructed in 2002, features sand based greens. “Deep and infrequent” on those greens says John. The original nine, native soil push up greens, are somewhat different. “Replenishing daily wiht light amounts of irrigation”, says John.

John, like most Rain Bird users, likes to supplement water throughout the growing season. “The Freedom System is simple to use and allows me to supplement water on a daily basis. Too much water is just as bad as not enough.”

In the 1990’s, the irrigation system was upgraded to a Rain Bird Decoder system. In 2002, decoders were again used for the back nine renovation project.

John liked the ease of installing Rain Bird Decoders and since he was doing the bulk of the irrigation installation he really appreciated just how easy it is. Along with the ease of installation, the built-in diagnostic capabilities within the central control make finding a problem that much easier.

One more feature John points out and relies on at the end of the day is the Rain Bird “Dry Run.” “When I adjust my water at the end of the day, I like seeing a graph and knowing when irrigation will complete its watering cycle. If I inadvertently staggered any start times, the holes on my flo-graph will allow me to see it on one screen and these holes can be quickly and easily fixed.”

John is a dedicated father of two boys, Nick 23 and Ryan 21, who both know a little about the golf business.

Did I mention they are part of his crew!!
